Welcome to the Center for Health Equity and Quality Research, a unique collaboration between the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville and the Duval County Health Department.

CHEQR's mission is to support applied research and education on health disparities, health equity and quality of healthcare by academic and public health faculty, residents and community partners in Northeast Florida.

The Center for Health Equity and Quality Research is built on the principles of:

• Optimal health for all individuals
• The elimination of health disparities
• Promoting change through quality research and education

CHEQR combines the research assets of an academic health center with the surveillance and assessment functions of a public health department to support researchers who focus on issues most important to the health and health care services of the people of Northeast Florida. CHEQR conducts and supports intervention research, community-based participatory research, translational research, epidemiological studies and health services research to better understand and mitigate the impact of conditions that are the root causes of health and health care disparities and inequities in Northeast Florida.

CHEQR, through its Regional Medicine-Public Health Education Center (RMPHEC), develops innovative programming for education on health equity, population health and public health for students, residents and faculty of the UF College of Medicine-Jacksonville.
