Recognition
The 2008 National Maternal Child Health Epidemiology Award for Effective Practice was awarded to the Institute for Health, Policy and Evaluation Research (IHPER), a partnership between the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville and the Duval County Health Department, at the December meeting in Atlanta, GA. The nationally-recognized award from the Coalition for Excellence in Maternal Child Health Epidemiology identifies individuals, institutions and leaders for making major contributions to improve the health of women, children and families throughout the country. The Coalition includes representatives from 16 private and public organizations including: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Maternal & Child Health Bureau of the Health Resources Administration, American Public Health Association, National March of Dimes and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The JaxHATS (Jacksonville Health and Transition Services) clinic was recognized as one of seven Model Programs in the United States by the "Healthy and Ready to Work Transition Models Project - Summary of Effective Approaches" on August 13, 2008. [view article]
