Asim Shuja, MD, a gastroenterology fellow at UF COMJ, led a study that found people who overate during major holidays or sporting events were ten times more likely to have food stuck in their esophagus, requiring surgical intervention.

Paul Dougherty, MD, is the new chair of orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. He comes here from Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University in Michigan, where he was professor of orthopaedic surgery and director of its residency program.
