Paul Dougherty, MD, is the new chair of orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. He comes here from Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University in Michigan, where he was professor of orthopaedic surgery and director of its residency program.
Nearly 140 residents and fellows have recently completed training programs at UFCOMJ. Their accomplishments were recognized during the June 8 Celebration of Education ceremony, which also featured the announcement of several academic awards.
Steven Cuffe, MD, professor and chair of psychiatry, is the winner of this year’s Robert C. Nuss Researcher/Scholar Award, which is given to a UFCOMJ faculty member who has a distinguished record of current research. Cuffe received the honor during the May 19 Celebration of Research event, which highlighted on-campus research and discovery.
Within the next few months, dozens of new medical residents will begin their respective training programs at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. Most of the 89 training positions, which span across 11 UFCOMJ residency programs, were filled through the national Match Day process.
