Curriculum

Our UFCOM-J Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship offers training to both emergency medicine and pediatric graduates. A training period of two years is required for all subspecialty residents. Pediatric graduates require three years of fellowship training in order to meet the certification requirements of the American Board of Pediatrics' Sub-Board of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine 6 months
Pediatric Ambulatory Clinics 1 month
Neonatal Intensive Care 1 month
Research 1 month
Pediatric Anesthesia 1 month
Pediatric Critical Care 1 month
Elective* 1 month
Second Year
Pediatric Emergency Medicine 6 months
Pediatric Surgery 1 month
General Pediatric Inpatient Service 1 month
Research/Administration 1 month
Obstetrics 1 month
Electives* (includes Pediatric Subspecialty rotation) 2 months

Pediatric sub-specialty rotation will be selected based on educational needs

Conferences average 4-5 hours per week, and include:

Fellows are involved in the preparation of some conferences. An attendance list that includes both pediatric emergency medicine faculty and subspecialty residents is kept by the PEM program director.
