Services
The UF Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism provides evaluation and treatment of individuals 14 years of age and older:
- Diabetes mellitus
- Thyroid disorders
- Lipid disorders
- Adrenal disorders
- Pituitary disorders
- Development disorders
- Growth disorders
- Metabolic bone disease-osteomalacia or Paget's disease
- Osteoporosis
- Metabolic disorders
- Kidney stones
Diabetes Education Program
The division also offers a complete self-management education program, which includes a certified diabetic educator. The 8-hour class covers topics like diabetes overview, coping, nutrition, monitoring, medications, sick days and available community resources. Individual or small group sessions include:
- Insulin instruction
- Intensive insulin therapy instruction
- Monitoring and use of results
- Carbohydrate counting
- Insulin pump evaluation, training and management
- Gestational diabetes/pregnancy complicated by diabetes
Dynamic Endocrine Testing
The division provides hormonal testing to assist in the diagnosis of hormonal or metabolic disorders.
