About the Division
In 2000, Shands Jacksonville Medical Center began a hospitalist program. In 2005, this program evolved to the UF Division of Hospital Medicine. With this transition, the hospital medicine division continued to provide inpatient medical care for referring physicians but also became one of the functional cornerstones of the internal medicine residency training program. The division provides an admission conduit that facilitates program adherence to patient care caps for residents, as well as serves as a career pathway for residency graduates. The division is continually gaining faculty members and has experienced great success in providing continuing care for in-patients and their community physicians.
