Application Process
For specific eligibility requirements, please refer to our GME brochure.
Our residency program only accepts applications through the AAMC's Electronic Residency Application Service. ERAS collects the required materials and then transmits these documents from your medical school to our residency program. We do not require any materials beyond the ERAS requirements. The UF Department of Internal Medicine in Jacksonville also participates in the National Residency Matching Program.
The following required documents must be provided to ERAS:
ERAS Common Application Form
A personal statement
Three letters of recommendation:
One from an internal medicine physician at your medical school
Two from physicians who are familiar with your work or abilities
Dean's letter (downloaded from your school on November 1st)
Official medical school transcript
USMLE score report
Curriculum vitae
Please do not mail any documents to us unless we request them from you directly.
Deadline
The deadline for submitting your completed application is December 31st.
Interviews
We suggest that individuals attending an interview arrive in Jacksonville the night preceding their interview. This will allow interviewees the time to attend a special welcome reception/dinner, with members from our housestaff, at one of our local restaurants (the exact location will be communicated to all applicants prior to their arrival). Accommodations will be provided for this night. Our interview day will begin at 8 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m. The day will include:
An introduction by the associate chair of medicine and the residency program director
Interviews
Time to meet current residents and faculty
Lunch
A tour of our hospital
