Research
Fellows concentrate their activities on investigative endocrinology under the tutelage of a faculty preceptor. Our program emphasizes a one-to-one relationship between fellow and preceptor as the major instrument for learning. Faculty members provide didactic sessions specifically addressing ligand receptor interaction, genetics and statistics as they apply to research in endocrinology. Fellows devote effort to specific research projects and participate in the research meetings, journal clubs and other activities of the preceptor's laboratory. Continued exposure to basic science and clinical faculty, as well as other trainees, remains an essential component of the training program.
Active participation in clinical and/or laboratory research projects is a required part of the training program, with time for research increasing progressively from the first to second year.
Fellows will:
- Execute a research project under direction of faculty mentor
- Understand the pertinent research literature
- Present data from research experience at a national meeting
- Prepare research manuscript for publication
