Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship

Mission

The mission of our program is to develop highly competent, ethical practitioners trained to be leaders in clinical and academic cardiac electrophysiology. We strive to promote excellence in education and patient care by providing outstanding clinical training in a rich academic environment.

Program Aims

  • Train/educate individuals who have completed their general cardiology fellowship in the field of clinical cardiac electrophysiology, allowing them the opportunity to transition from their advanced training to private practice, academia or industry
  • Incorporate latest technological advancements in medical devices into learning for use during and after fellowship training
  • Train electrophysiology fellows to incorporate evidence-based medicine into practice with emphasis on QI projects to be used in everyday practice, as well as the efficient use of resources to prevent the waste of time, human resources, space, finance etc.

Goals and Objectives

Our program is committed to providing the fellows with an optimal environment to learn clinical electrophysiology, both in and out of the laboratory.

Clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellows evaluate patients with acute atrial or ventricular arrhythmias or bradycardia and heart failure patients with devices and atrial or ventricular arrhythmias. Fellows perform invasive electrophysiology studies ablative procedures, pacemaker, defibrillator and heart failure device implantation. In addition, fellows also acquire noninvasive experience with device monitoring and follow-up.

Fellow involvement in clinical research is strongly recommended and supported by protected time and faculty mentorship.

Our program fosters an environment to present and share scientific knowledge and findings with colleagues.
