During the first week of July the incoming PGY-2 residents attend a series of lectures entitled "Introduction to Neurology." These lectures are intended to provide residents with an overview of the neurologic examination and to provide the new residents with clinical information that will allow them to comfortably manage neurologic emergencies and interpret CT scans.

The Basic Neuroscience Conference is held in conjunction with neuroscience researchers from the McKnight Brain Institute. In addition, periodic lectures on Neuroanatomy are included in the lecture schedule.

Residents receive training in managing Neurological Emergencies at the UF Center for Simulation Education and Safety Research (CSESaR). PGY-2 residents evaluate standardized patients at this center in order to enhance their examination skills.
