Fall 2009 Biostatistics Lecture Series

Dear University of Florida Faculty, Residents and Fellows:

I am pleased to announce that the lecture series entitled "Biostatistics for Clinical Research" will be offered again this Fall on the Jacksonville campus. Peter Wludyka, Ph.D., Professor of Statistics at the Department of Mathematics & Statistics and the Director of the Center for Research and Consulting in Statistics at the University of North Florida, will again be the instructor. Please note that each lecture is independent of the others.

Biostatistics for Clinical Research Outline

The lectures will be held in the Alumni Auditorium, LRC Auditorium and the Mason A/B Conference room in Tower 2, 10th Floor. Please register for each lecture by calling the Office of Research Affairs at 244-9478. The lectures will run from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and are scheduled as follows:

ACGME Common Program Requirements [effective July 2007]

Residents' Scholarly Activities

1. The curriculum must advance residents' knowledge of the basic principles of research, including how research is conducted, evaluated, explained to patients, and applied to patient care.

2. Residents should participate in scholarly activity. [As further specified by the Review Committee]

3. The sponsoring institution and program should allocate adequate educational resources to facilitate resident involvement in scholarly activities. [As further specified by the Review Committee]

Dr. Wludyka will be available, by appointment, for consultation between the hours of 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, on Tuesdays and Elena Buzaianu, Ph.D., will be available on Fridays between the hours of 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. They will assist with individual research projects, experimental design, as well as data collection, appropriate methodologies and interpretation of research project results. You will need to schedule your appointment through Laura Hudson in the Office of Research Affairs by calling 244-9478.
