Hudak appointed to national pediatrics committee

Mark Hudak, MD, professor and chair of pediatrics at the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville, was recently appointed chairperson of the Committee on Child Health Financing, a national committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

The committee monitors policy and makes recommendations to the AAP Board of Directors on various aspects and sources for private and public financing of children’s health care services, including managed care, emerging health insurance product options and scope of benefits.

Hudak and fellow UF pediatrics professor Thomas Chiu, MD, MBA, were lead authors on a 2013 AAP policy statement on Medicaid. Hudak’s one-year appointment as chairperson is renewable each year for a total of four years and will allow him additional opportunities to continue to advance children’s health.

Hudak is chief of the UF neonatology division in Jacksonville, associate medical director of the neonatal intensive care unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and assistant dean of managed care.
