Cooperative Ph.D. with Consortium Universities

In 2002, nursing programs at the universities of Florida A&M, Florida State and North Florida joined with the University of Florida in a cooperative Ph.D. Degree in Nursing Science. Through this cooperative degree offering students may now access the UF program through sites in Tallahassee and Jacksonville. An expansion to the University of West Florida in Pensacola is also being considered. The UF College of Nursing doctoral courses are transmitted to Tallahassee and Jacksonville via an interactive audio-visual system. Students attend classes simultaneously on three campuses. Doctoral classes are offered one day per week.

Students may transfer a maximum of 12 credits in a minor or area of specialization and an additional 6 credits of elective courses, from the participating consortium universities to UF in order to meet the required 62 credits for the degree.

The curriculum plan below shows how courses may be distributed between UF and the Consortium Universities.
