The division of general obstetrics and gynecology in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is proud to offer a broad range of gynecologic and obstetric services and expertise.

Patient Care

The division provides specialized services in contraceptive counseling, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, initial evaluation and treatment of infertility, management of pelvic pain disorders as well as general health maintenance and screenings. We also offer medical weight loss assistance and referral to our general surgery's bariatric center. Our surgeons collaborate with other services to provide comprehensive and innovative care to all women.

The division also provides routine obstetric services in a variety of locations and with by a variety of providers. We have faculty physicians, residents and midwives who provide delivery services at UF Health Jacksonville and UF Health North, and we have physicians in community clinics that see patients for their prenatal care. This is an exciting time for our division as we continue to grow with the addition of a new faculty physician, two new nurse midwives and the extension of services to patients at the Elizabeth G. Means Center. Our goal is to ensure every pregnant mom receives excellent care for their upcoming births.

Education

Our physicians play an important role in the training of residents, medical students, midwives and allied health professionals. We supervise regular journal club meetings in which residents and faculty discuss study designs and recent advances in the field, as well as attend national meetings on the most current practices and procedures in our field.

Through education such as preoperative conference, practice review case conference, state of the art simulation facility (CSESAR), poster/paper assignments and resident thesis mentorship, we ensure each resident gets a comprehensive education in the specialty. Daily ward rounds and frequent contact with residents assures maximal patient safety in a rich educational environment.
