Early Steps offers identification and intervention services for families with infants and toddlers (birth to 36 months) who have a delay, such as walking, talking, hearing or seeing, or have an established condition, such cerebral palsy, that is likely to result in a developmental delay. Individualized plans of care and case management are provided.

Children and families from the six northeast Florida counties (Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns) are connected to trained early intervention teams serving in locations where families normally live, work and play.

Florida Diagnostic Learning Resources System (FDLRS)

The Florida Diagnostic Learning Resources System (FDLRS) program is a full-service diagnostic center that provides diagnostic and support services to children with behavioral, developmental and learning disorders. Comprehensive evaluation services are provided at no cost to families through the use of a multidisciplinary diagnostic clinic.

The multidisciplinary teams consists of educational, psychological and neurodevelopmental pediatric professionals. These professionals are also available to work closely with parents and school personnel to facilitate the educational success of children who are experiencing learning difficulty due to medical, psychological, and cognitive issues. Referrals for evaluation may be made by parents, educators, physicians and other professionals in health-related fields.
