Early Steps Program

The Early Steps Program of Northeast Florida is a program of the State of Florida Department of Health, Children's Medical Services (CMS) and the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville Department of Pediatrics in accordance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part C.

The program supports families in the growth and development of infant and toddlers with special needs. The program partners with providers and families to deliver services that support children’s well-being and development in the Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. John’s Counties.

The Early Steps Program serves infants and toddlers from birth to 36 months with a developmental delay or a condition that places them at risk for developmental delay. Research shows that a child's first three years are the most important time for learning, so starting interventions early puts children on the right path to learn and develop at their fullest potential.

To schedule a screening, call 904-360-7022 or 1-800-226-6964. Visit the Early Steps Program on the Children's Medical Services website for more information on program eligibility and policies.
