Welcome from the Division Chief![]() Mobeen H. Rathore, M.B.B.S. (M.D.) Welcome to the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville Division of General and Hospitalist Pediatrics website. |
The division provides comprehensive medical care for infants and children of Northeast Florida in both the inpatient (hospital) and outpatient settings.
Inpatient medical care is necessary when the severity of a child’s illness dictates that the evaluation and management be accomplished in a hospital setting. Our highly experienced pediatric hospitalists provide medical care at two inpatient locations (Wolfson Children's Hospital and Shands Jacksonville). These physicians are dedicated solely to inpatient pediatric medical care.
The pediatric hospitalists provide a quality inpatient care, with an assigned "hospitalist" following a patient from soon after admission until discharge. The hospitalist is responsible for over-seeing the various studies performed for evaluating the child, such as lab results, x-ray studies, procedures and specialist consultations. The hospitalist maintains a dialogue with the primary care physician about diagnostic evaluation and therapy throughout a child’s hospitalization.
This division is also dedicated to pediatric medical education. At Wolfson Children's Hospital, the division actively participates in the educational experience of the UF Pediatric Residents, Naval Air Station - Jacksonville Family Practice Residents, St. Vincent’s Family Practice Residents, UF medical students, pharmacy students and other visiting medical students.
For two consecutive years, the division has received the award from the Pediatric Residency program for the Most Outstanding Division.
