Patient Care

Inpatient - Hospital Care

To arrange for inpatient care, your primary care provider (PCP) should contact the admitting "hospitalist" at either Wolfson Children's Hospital or Shands Jacksonville. Together with your PCP, the admitting hospitalist will coordinate your child’s admission to the appropriate facility.

At Wolfson Children's Hospital our physicians work in a team with other hospitalists from Nemours Children’s Clinic.

Outpatient - Office Care

Outpatient pediatric care is accomplished in the office setting. This division has pediatricians dedicated to providing and coordinating medical care in this setting. Their office availability throughout the day enhances a patient’s accessibility to care. This division provides care at several outpatient locations within the community.

Examples of the medical care delivered in the outpatient setting include:

  • Well child and preventive medical care including:
    • Developmental screening
    • Evaluation of growth, maturity and physical assessment
    • Vaccines and Immunizations
    • Counseling
    • Nutrition
    • Health screening
  • Pediatric non-urgent and urgent care:
    • Coordination of outpatient medical evaluations
    • Referrals to sub-specialist for consultations
    • Adolescent medical care
    • Sick care
