Application Process

Thank you for your interest in our program. Each application will be reviewed individually and those selected for an interview will be personally contacted via email. Please include the following document in your application. Thorough completion of your application is important to our review committee, so please include all items.

  • ERAS common application form
  • Official medical school transcript
  • USMLE or COMLEX score reports (Step 1 and Step 2)
  • Dean's letter
  • Three letters of recommendation (Letters can be written by any faculty member with whom you have worked. We do not require a chairman's letter.)
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Photograph

For specific eligibility requirements, please refer to the eligibility and selection policy. We have 11 PGY-1 positions for 2009-2010. The applicant pool is very competitive. Our strongest applicants also have one year or more of clinical or research experience in the US and have graduated within the past five years OR completed pediatric residency in his/her home country.

All applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service at www.aamc.org.

The deadline for submitting applications is November 1.

We suggest that individuals scheduled for an interview arrive in Jacksonville the night before their interview. This will allow interviewees the time to attend a welcome reception with some of our current housestaff. A hotel room will be provided for this evening. The interview day will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will end at approximately 2:30 p.m. In addition to two interviews, the day will consist of opportunities to meet current residents, eat lunch and take tours of Wolfson Children's Hospital and Shands Jacksonville.

Typical Interview Day:

  • 8:00 – 8:30 Morning Report
  • 8:30 – 9:00 Program Director Overview
  • 9:00 – 10:00 Interviews with 2 faculty members OR tour of Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s Clinic Jacksonville
  • 10:00 – 11:00 Interviews with 2 faculty members OR tour of Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s Clinic Jacksonville
  • 11:15 – 1:15 Lunch with residents
  • 1:30 – 2:00 Tour of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center
  • 2:00 – 2:30 Closing with Program Director
