How to Apply

Psychiatry Residency

Thank you for your interest in our program. All applications must be received through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Each application will be reviewed individually and those selected for an interview will be personally contacted via email. Thorough completion of your application is important to our review committee, so please include all of the following items in your application:

  • Official medical school transcript
  • USMLE or COMLEX score reports (step 1 and step 2)
  • Three letters of recommendation (letters can be written by any faculty member with whom you have worked, we do not require a chairman's letter)
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Photograph

Additional requirements include:

  • At least minimal pass scores on USMLE step 1 and step 2 (COMLEX is also accepted) - interviews are sometimes (though rarely) granted to candidates who have had unsuccessful attempts for either step 1 or step 2
  • We accept both M.D.s and D.O.s
  • No minimum requirement for number of years since medical school graduation
  • For International students we require you to be eligible for a J1 Visa
  • If you are not a U.S. citizen, we prefer a minimum of one year experience in the U.S. in either research or clinical practice (clinical practice preferred)
  • We do not offer observerships or externships at this time

The annual deadline for submitting applications is Dec. 1.
