The UF Department of Radiology provides services at Shands Jacksonville, a 696-bed hospital serving North Florida and South Georgia. In addition to providing primary care, inpatient care and acting as a major referral center, the hospital functions as the metropolitan campus for the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. Shands Jacksonville offers the region's only Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, a Level III NICU, fully accredited acute stroke center, micro-surgical re-implantation and a leading-edge cardiovascular center.
The Department of Radiology is fully equipped with all the modern imaging modalities, including radiography, nuclear medicine, CT, ultrasound, PET and MRI. Our angiography suites are all digital rooms, which are integrated into our hospital PACS system.
Approximately 270,000 diagnostic imaging examinations are performed annually. Additional affiliated outpatient center studies are interpreted by the faculty.
Our department maintains a four-year, ACGME-accredited diagnostic radiology residency training program, as well as a one-year, ACGME-accredited vascular interventional radiology fellowship. We also offer non-ACGME fellowships in cardiac imaging (CT/MRI) and musculosketal imaging.
The information contained on the following pages is designed to provide a comprehensive view of our department and contact information to answer any additional questions. Thank you for your interest and we hope you find our site both educational and informative.
