Breast Imaging and Intervention Fellowship

Clinical Practice Roles and Responsibilities

  • Interpret all diagnostic breast imaging, including 2D and 3D mammography, MRI and ultrasound
  • Recommend appropriate diagnostic breast imaging
  • Perform all interventional breast procedures
  • Perform breast ultrasound and patient physical breast examination
  • Consult with patients regarding imaging and procedural recommendation
  • Participation in faculty weekend general radiology call schedule
  • Participation in weekly breast health multidisciplinary conference
  • Participation in multidisciplinary case consultation
  • Participation in a two-week multidisciplinary elective, gaining insight into the daily practice of our outstanding breast surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists and pathologists
  • Partake in two months of non-breast imaging radiology electives, if desired by the fellow

Scholarly/Research Activity

  • Participation in radiology-pathology conference
  • Mentorship of residents and/or participation in resident case conference and didactic lecture presentation
  • Participation in departmental and multidisciplinary research with an optional two week research elective
  • Opportunity to attend all noon didactic teaching conferences

The breast imaging and intervention fellow is encouraged to participate in departmental and multidisciplinary research projects. The department of radiology employs a full-time research manager to facilitate research endeavors. The University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville encourages resident/fellow research through the availability of Dean’s Fund Research Awards and an annual Research Day, with residents and fellows from all disciplines presenting their work.
