Welcome to the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville Division of Informatics. The division provides services at Shands Jacksonville, a 695-bed tertiary care teaching hospital.

The division specializes in advancing the clinical practice of radiology utilizing electronic resources, software and advanced visualization tools.

Improving workflow, starting from patient registration to final report delivery, is one of our primary focuses. We work closely with our Advanced Center for CT and MR Imaging to improve post-processing analysis of new technology, including Dual-Source CT imaging and 3T MR.

Our infrastructure is based on a complex system of servers, workstations, and modalities linked together through a high-speed network to allow for the rapid transfer of radiology images and information to the radiologist and clinicians.

Collaboration with advanced visualization companies has allowed us early access to innovative technology utilizing 3D and volume rendering reconstruction which is integrated into our daily practice.

We are initiating data mining research to identify disease patterns within our population, and will ultimately collaborate with real-time disease monitoring networks to identify early outbreaks.
