Moonlighting

All residents and fellows must adhere to State University System Guidelines regarding outside activities/outside employment. The University of Florida recognizes two usual categories of moonlighting: (1) programmatic (or "internal") and (2) nonprogrammatic outside activity. Both have specific requirements that must be met. Policies and procedures for both types of activities are found below.

Individual residency programs have total authority to choose whether outside activities are allowed for residents within their program. Please refer to your individual Program policies.

Note: moonlighting that occurs within the residency program and/or the sponsoring institution or the non-hospital sponsor's primary clinical site(s) (i.e., internal moonlighting) must be counted toward the 80-hour weekly limit on duty hours.
