The UF Department of Surgery in Jacksonville offers a 1-year, ACGME-approved Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program. Training is completed at the UF College of Medicine Jacksonville and the 696-bed teaching hospital, Shands Jacksonville. The hospital's 28 bed trauma/surgical intensive care unit and adult and pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center resuscitates 4,500 Northeast Florida and South Georgia patients each year

Fellows in our free standing program gain experience in the delivery of surgical critical care to severely injured and critically ill patients. They become competent in the application of advanced technology geared toward optimization of care for the physiologic derangements seen in critically ill patients. Fellows are also exposed to onsite instruction in the process of administration and management of critical care units, as well as contribute to the education of members of the critical care team. Fellows actively participate in our ongoing research programs, which include a collaboration with the McKnight Brain Institute at the UF Gainesville campus.

Please explore our site for additional details on our fellowship program. If you have further questions, please contact us.
